This ebook will help you find the best microservices design strategies for your applications, show you how to begin refactoring monolithic applications into microservices, and demonstrate how NGINX and NGINX Plus can support your transition to microservices.

Normally, you won't be deploying with docker-compose into a production environment because the right production deployment environment for microservices is an orchestrator like Kubernetes or Service Fabric. When deploying to those environments you use different configuration files where you won't publish directly any external port for the microservices but, you'll always use the reverse proxy from the API Gateway.

By splitting the API Gateway into multiple API Gateways, different development teams focusing on different subsets of microservices can manage their own API Gateways by using independent Ocelot configuration files. Plus, at the same time they can reuse the same Ocelot Docker image.

The second chapter of my upcoming book Production-Ready Microservices has been turned into a short ebook. Download it for free here on the O'Reilly website while it's available! You can get it in epub, mobi, and pdf formats.

Download the webMethods Service Designer archive for your operating system from webMethods Service Designer Free download (ensure that you login from a Tech Community account or sign up for a free account). You can also replace the trial license with your purchased license. For more information, see Is there a way to replace the trial license with my purchased license?

Docker is an excellent tool for managing and deploying microservices. Each microservice can be further broken down into processes running in separate Docker containers, which can be specified with Dockerfiles and Docker Compose configuration files. Combined with a provisioning tool such as Kubernetes, each microservice can then be easily deployed, scaled, and collaborated on by a developer team. Specifying an environment in this way also makes it easy to link microservices together to form a larger application.

LinkedIn, Uber, and Trello are among the many global companies that use Node.js to amp up their back-end development. Considered as the go-to language for dynamic websites, it offers fast scalability, load-balancing capabilities, faster websites, and only one language needs to be used for both back- and front-end programming in the case of node.js. This means fewer files, a fewer number of code lines, and easier management. This is perfect for microservices development. 2ff7e9595c
